Wordpress Invision Power Board Integration

August 29th, 2008

InvisionBridge users,

The integration of Wordpress and Invision Power Board has been my passion for the past year, and InvisionBridge has been a great part of a long learning experience, but open source software is ultimately better in every way than a software that is only developed a few developers.

Today, I”m putting the full version script, no limited editions here, of the Invision Power Board and Wordpress integration script for download to anyone, including guests, no registration required.

I hope that developers interested in this project will see what I intended the script to be, where it has succeeded and where it failed, and hopefully get involved and help this new free open source script become what I always intended it to be. An complete Wordpress and Invision Power Board integration script that works across all platforms and environments.

The Wordpress and Invision Power Board integration can be downloaded below, please notice the current bugs, and download the double post fix plugin.

Double Cross-posts Bug Fix

August 17th, 2008

InvisionBridge members,

Wordpress recently added an autosave and revision feature which creates a conflicting situation for InvisionBridge”s WP-IPB Bridge cross-posting function. Currently there is no way to have the WP-IPB Bridge stop double cross posting new versions, or autosaved Wordpress posts without affecting its ability to cross post WP posts in the first place.

We are currently looking at the issue and until we find a solution I highly recommend using this plugin which disables your Wordpress autosave and revision functions and allows the WP-IPB Bridge to work the way it is suppose to work.

Please download here.

Installation instructions:

  1. Unzip disable-revisions-and-autosave.zip
  2. Upload the file disable-revisions-and-autosave.php to your /wp-content/plugins/ folder.
  3. Login to your WP Admin and activate the plugin and you are done.

Thanks to Phillippe for poiting this bug to me.

Wordpress And Ipb Integration Bridge Version 1.5 Released

June 24th, 2008

Hi, I”m glad to announce the official release of the Wordpress and Invision Power Board Bridge 1.5 version compatible with the new Wordpress 2.5x and any Invision Power Board 2.x which fixes some critical support and features affecting large IPB user tables, importation of users, scalability, lowercase Wordpress login bug and adds a better widget.

For other WP-IPB Brige and Integration features please read this post.

New WP-IPB plug-in options and features:

Since version 1.3 this version is also compatible with the new Wordpress 2.5.

Installation in large user tables on IPB now possible: The new plugin supports new installations where there IPB has a large user table, where previously no more than 100 members were supported by the bridge. Although already installed Wordpress installations activating this plugin will still lose their members and have the Wordpress user table filled with the IPB users.

Lowercase User Login Bug:
The new Wordpress 2.5 caused the plugin to import IPB”s users in lowercase, causing members who use an uppercased login name to have to login using their login name in lowercase, this issue has now been resolve and all login names should be usable in their native IPB form.

Scalability: With the ability to import large user tables from IPB into Wordpress, the code has been cleaned up to allow large websites to run the plugin with minimal or no usage of server resources other than the importation of every new IPB member into the Wordpress user table.

Better Widget Support:
Widget support for Wordpress 2.5 has now been added, this will allow you to place the IPB user information anywhere you choose to, previously a theme code insert was needed for this function.

The new WP-IPB Birdge version 1.5 will be mailed out to all customers very soon. New members can purchase the plug-in and receive the new version when the product page reopens.

Wordpress Private Messaging System

April 17th, 2008

A Wordpress plug-in I have had in mind for years has been a PM system for Wordpress, how many times you have wanted to stay connected to your Wordpress authors, editors and members but had to rely on either email or your forum”s PM system to get the message across? Introducing Wordpress PM System.

Wordpress PM System

There have been previous version of a similar plug-in, MPress was the last one introduced for Wordpress 2.0 and before that there was Private Notes by Vituperation for pre-historic Wordpress 1.0

PM System Features:

  • Users can send and receive PM (Private Messages).
  • When sending, user can save a copy of the sent PM to a ‘Sent PM’ folder.
  • PMs can be forwarded, saved, replied to, and deleted.
  • Users can create their own folders for saving PMs, and move PMs between folders.
  • User folders can be renamed and deleted.
  • Configuration-limited HTML can be used in PMs.
  • Admins can see user folders and their contents (including note subjects), but cannot read notes.
  • Admins can delete notes and folders of users with notes.
  • Plugin will automatically delete PMs after an admin-determined length of time.

Pretty much a PM system similar to IPB”s for Wordpress.

Wordpress Mu V0.2

April 4th, 2008

Hi,

Wordpress and Invision Power Board Bridge v0.2 beta testing has been sent out to all active beta testers.

Please check your email for newer version, newer version fixes installation issues and other unreported bugs found during further testing.

The main problem was in functions naming, some function in the code had the same name as in Events Calendar plug-in so the previous version doesn”t work with this plug-in installed, or with a few others which use the same function names on the WP-IPB MU plug-in.

Please retest, thank you for your help.
