Wordpress And Ipb Integration Bridge Version 1.5 Released
Hi, I”m glad to announce the official release of the Wordpress and Invision Power Board Bridge 1.5 version compatible with the new Wordpress 2.5x and any Invision Power Board 2.x which fixes some critical support and features affecting large IPB user tables, importation of users, scalability, lowercase Wordpress login bug and adds a better widget.
For other WP-IPB Brige and Integration features please read this post.
New WP-IPB plug-in options and features:
Since version 1.3 this version is also compatible with the new Wordpress 2.5.
Installation in large user tables on IPB now possible: The new plugin supports new installations where there IPB has a large user table, where previously no more than 100 members were supported by the bridge. Although already installed Wordpress installations activating this plugin will still lose their members and have the Wordpress user table filled with the IPB users.
Lowercase User Login Bug: The new Wordpress 2.5 caused the plugin to import IPB”s users in lowercase, causing members who use an uppercased login name to have to login using their login name in lowercase, this issue has now been resolve and all login names should be usable in their native IPB form.
Scalability: With the ability to import large user tables from IPB into Wordpress, the code has been cleaned up to allow large websites to run the plugin with minimal or no usage of server resources other than the importation of every new IPB member into the Wordpress user table.
Better Widget Support: Widget support for Wordpress 2.5 has now been added, this will allow you to place the IPB user information anywhere you choose to, previously a theme code insert was needed for this function.
The new WP-IPB Birdge version 1.5 will be mailed out to all customers very soon. New members can purchase the plug-in and receive the new version when the product page reopens.
The “Product Page” is now OPEN with of the official release of version 1.5.

Once I find out if this words with my site, you can be sure I'll spread the word of this toy. I know several IPB users who are interested in such.

Technically if IPB and Wordpress support them, then the plugin shouldn't interfere or have any issues, but I will test it out just in case.

I have a question, is it possible to change my email that you send the bridge to? It is currently being sent to my paypal email address which I don't use anymore. Like maybe remove the old one from the list and add a new one.
Thanks.

I did not receive an e-mail with the new software–is there any way to just have a client download or something for existing customers in the future?

Starting with the version, you will be able to download new versions via this website, so yes, the download manager will be installed next week to facilitate easier downloading.

Also waiting for the next version (even more so since I didn't get the previous release).
July 12th, 2008 at 5:49 am
Same.
Also would be nice if this forum had a community at some point in time. Like a general and/or media discussion forum. …off topic.

Three of the new features (Multi-database, any-root directory installation and auto-sync login) won't be ready for this release in time or for better explanation it will take longer to roll out these features so the new version will be release in a few days with the major upgrades such as Member import, large user table compatibility and widget support.
In the near future you will be able to download the script via a download section.

That's a great suggestions, I was thinking on adding web design forums along with a general discussion in the very near future.

I'm just curious. What is the current expected release date? How are you testing that this works on large forums and sites?

can someone tell me when the new version will be available for purchase? my blog is scheduled to begin on august 15 and i would like to integrate it with my forum which is already up and running
July 24th, 2008 at 11:44 am
Yes, I've been testing on large forums for the past 3 weeks, there are several issues regarding large databases that needed fixing but for the most part are already solved.
The script will be released the first week of August, an email will be sent to all members letting them know that the script has been released.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.

The bridge was sent out today to all existing customers.
Check that you were logged in via clicking on your profile link on the control panel widget, you may have been logged in to IPB but your Wordpress session may have expired.
The system can only log you in to both systems, but not log you off from both.

The download page does not appear to list IPB-WP Bridge.
Wordpress login, via the blogs front page, or http://www.invisionbridge.com/wp-admin appears not to accept my password that works with the forum. Wierd.

* You have installed Wordpress and IPB on different databases, and if you are not willing to import the IPB database into your Wordpress database so that both system are on the same database.
my wordpress blog is new so i dont mind if the database is erased. but will there any risk of damaging my IPB database as it is being imported into the wordpress database
public_html/blog and public_html/forums
^ this is how my set up currently is. like i said, my blog is new so i dont mind losing any data there. is it possible to move a fairly big forum from public_html/ into public_html/blog and are there any risks?

Hi,
Moving your forums to another folder should be fairly simple, you would only need to move the IPB files to the blog/forum folder and then open your IPB conf_global.php and edit the forum path to:
It would make more sense to use your IPB database information and install a fresh Wordpress on the IPB database instead of moving IPB into your new Wordpress database, so I would highly suggest that you do this instead: upload WP, get IPB database info, then install WP on IPB database, install plugin.
That would be the best avenue of approach IMO.
Let me know if you have any further questions.

ive already installed wordpress and created a few test articles….can i now remove that database and make it so it uses the IPB database? or would i need to upload and reinstall wordpress?
August 3rd, 2008 at 10:51 pm
You can import that database into your IPB database or you can simply install a new IPB into your WP database, whichever it's easier for you.
If you have Wordpress and IPB installed on TWO different databases you will need to import one into the other, it does not really matter which one, it depends which one you want to move really. You just need to know that whichever you move you will need to update the configuration file on IPB or the Wordpress settings on WP-ADMIN with the correct, new path. For example if you move IPB, to a new folder, then you will need to edit the conf_global.php with the correct forum path.

The download page has the latest bridge up for download.
I was talking about issues of logging into this wordpress account, not the one on my site. It all worked out by requesting a new password from */wp-admin so I guess it's alright. Ill let you know if I come over any problems when installing the new plugin.
